Walden Student— an independent reading

Walden Student › Who we are

Who reads the policies for you

This site is written by a consultation practice — not a review site, not a marketing agency, and not anybody's affiliate. That distinction decides what we are able to tell you, so it is worth being plain about who we are and how we are paid.

How the practice is paid, and why it matters

We support working nurses through placement and coursework across seventeen online programmes. Walden is one of them. We receive nothing from Walden, and no adviser here is compensated according to where you enrol.

That is the entire reason a page on this site can end with do not enrol here. A single-school affiliate cannot write that sentence and stay solvent. We can — because if Walden is wrong for you then one of the other sixteen is probably right, and either way you are better served by an accurate answer than a flattering one.

The advisers

Between them they cover the four questions that actually decide this: whether you can be placed, what you will be charged, what your transcript is worth, and whether the format suits how you work.

Marisa Okonkwo

MSN, FNP-BC · Placement lead

Preceptor supply, affiliation agreements and the Practicum Pledge. Marisa is who you speak to about whether a placement is realistic in your county, before anything else gets decided.

Devon Whitlock

DNP, PMHNP-BC · Psychiatric-mental health adviser

The PMHNP track, which carries more credits than Family NP and a thinner preceptor market in most states. Devon covers both halves of that problem.

Priya Raghunathan

MSN, AGPCNP-BC · Programme adviser

Specialisation choice and the adult-gerontology routes, including the acute-versus-primary decision people often make on instinct and regret at licensure.

Tomas Bergland

MSN, RN · Transfer credit and admissions

What a transcript is actually worth against Walden's ceilings, and which entry route you are being quoted. Usually the largest single number in the whole decision.

Yewande Adeyemi

DNP, APRN · Doctoral pathways

The DNP and PhD routes, residency requirements, and the approval gates a doctoral study has to clear after the committee has already said yes.

Colm Fitzgerald

MSN, RN-BC · Informatics and portals

The systems side — myWalden, Blackboard and Meditrek — and the non-practitioner tracks in informatics, education and leadership.

Advisers write under consistent professional pen names. The credentials and the practice are real; the names are not the ones on their licences, because advisers here speak candidly about schools that colleagues elsewhere in the sector work for. Everything on this site is checked against the school's own published guidance, and every figure carries the month it was read.

What we will not do

  • Tell you a school is right when it is not

The five-question instrument on the homepage is built to reach a negative verdict, and it does, regularly. So do we.

  • Quote a figure we have not read

Every number here is the school's own published term, with the month we read it. Where a figure moves by programme or intake we say so, rather than picking the flattering end of the range.

  • Pass your details to a school

An enquiry here reaches this practice. It does not become an admissions lead somewhere else.
